At Nordens, we recommend that all clients with limited companies are appropriately insured to work. We’re often asked questions on this subject, so here are our answers to a few of the most frequently asked ones.
Why do I need insurance?
Most recruiters require contractors to have business insurance in place. This is because they want to protect their business, but also to ensure that any contractor on assignment is suitably covered should an issue arise as a result of their work. If your actions lead to anything being damaged, or anybody being injured, it is essential that you are insured, as it may result in a costly claim being made against you.
Likewise, if you give your client any advice or complete any work for them that leads to them losing money, they may bring a claim against you.
In these situations, having insurance in place could be what keeps you in business. To ensure that your business is protected financially and that you are complying with your client’s requirements, you need to have suitable insurance in place at all times.
What types of cover should I consider?
Where can I buy the right insurance?
There are a number of insurance providers that offer cost-effective and comprehensive insurance to the contracting community. Here at Nordens, we have partnered with Kingsbridge Contractor Insurance, a specialist insurance broker for contractors and freelancers, and – as a Nordens client – you are entitled to a 10% discount off of their standard premium.
Kingsbridge provides a package which includes all the key insurances you may need – professional indemnity, public liability and employers’ liability. This means you generally only need one policy to meet your contractual obligations.
Key benefits of the Kingsbridge package:
• One package, full cover
• Personal accident included as standard
• Cover for previous work
• Instant access to policy documents
• Monthly payment options
• Insurance that acts as an IR35 indicator
• Tax deductible business expense

We've always got our ears to the ground when it comes to interesting, useful and topical information relating to business and accountancy.
We love making videos that break down convoluted accountancy jargon into a plain talking explanation of the important facts.
In November 2002, having sold our other business interests off earlier in the year, I decided to set up Nordens Chartered Accountants. The easy part was knowing how to do it, as I had established and built a smaller practice a few years earlier, the difficult part was not following the traditional accountancy path. Having run businesses, both successfully and unsuccessfully, I wanted to help business owners resolve their short term problems and work with them to achieve their longer term goals. Business has always been my interest and I love that I can help business owners achieve what seems like the impossible every single working day.
Our limited company accountants have a range of qualifications from The Institute Of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW) to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). They follow the bye-laws, regulations and ethical guidelines of the ACCA and we are an ACCA accredited employer. We are also accredited by Professional Passport for our Umbrella and accountancy services.
At Nordens we're committed to keeping our clients updated on all things business strategy and news. Each week we update our newsletter subscribers on what really matters to their business helping them stay one step ahead.
In celebration of our 18th birthday, we’ve launched our Refer-a-Friend scheme, allowing you to receive a thank you gift from us of up to £1,000 for successfully introducing a new client.
Our team of experts will be in touch to find the very best time to hold a free, no strings attached, one-hour consultation.
